The Nursery is staffed by a team of highly qualified and experienced practitioners, committed to delivering the range of experiences and opportunities fundamental to children's learning. 'The high level of commitment and care shown by the class teachers and the staff is evident in the way that all children settle into the school so well and immediately begin to learn.' (Ofsted 2010)
We work closely with parents and carers to help the children make the most of their Nursery experiences. Staff are always on hand for a chat or to discuss any issues, and we have regular 'Open House' events such as our slideshows and sing-song sessions to which parents and carers are warmly invited.
Lucy trained at Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln, studying Teaching Studies with Drama (ages 3-8 years) and spent a year of her course in the Drama department at Hull University. Qualifying in 1992, Lucy taught Reception in Southampton followed by Year 1 in West Kent.
Taking time out to have her 3 children, Lucy worked for an educational search engine, in adult education and for a tuition centre. Lucy has been at Wadhurst Nursery for 3 years but has had close links with the Nursery for many years as her children all attended Nursery; 2 are progressing through the School and 1 is now at the local secondary school.
Ruth studied for 2 years at West Kent College to gain her Diploma in Childcare. She has since worked as a nanny for several families, as a mother's help and as a nursery nurse in a number of nurseries.
Ruth has been at Wadhurst Nursery for 9 years and has loved watching whole families of children developing in the Nursery and then working their way through the school. Her own son attended Nursery but has now moved onto his local primary school.
Tina splits her time between working in Nursery and also in Reception in the main school.
Tina has many years experience working as both a nursery nurse and teaching assistant in a number of settings. She also has two children of her own who attend the local secondary school.
